Aaron Rodgers Furious After Teammate Tackles Him During Steelers’ Touchdown Celebration

In a surprising sideline incident during Thursday night’s thrilling matchup between the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Cincinnati Bengals, veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers showed he doesn’t take kindly to unexpected tackles from teammates.

The 41-year-old Rodgers had just thrown a spectacular 68-yard touchdown pass to tight end Pat Freiermuth, putting the Steelers ahead 31-30 late in the game. In the heat of the moment, tackle Broderick Jones jumped on Rodgers to celebrate the play—but the quarterback did not appreciate the gesture.

Footage from the game shows Rodgers getting tackled from behind, falling to the ground, and then pushing Jones away in visible frustration. Amazon Prime commentator Kirk Herbstreit captured the moment perfectly, jokingly remarking, “Oh gosh, don’t tackle me, c’mon!”

Old-School Quarterback Duel

This game was notable not only for Rodgers’ heroics but also for the rare matchup of two quarterbacks over 40 years old. Rodgers faced off against 40-year-old Joe Flacco, recently traded to the Bengals from the Cleveland Browns. The clash, humorously dubbed the “Icy Hot Bowl” and the “Battle of the Uncs,” marked the second time in NFL history that two quarterbacks over 40 faced each other, the first being Tom Brady and Drew Brees in 2020.

Before the game, Rodgers praised the achievements of veteran players across sports, telling reporters,
"It’s great for all of the old guys… I tend to pull for the older guys to win, win championships. I’ve been friends with Stephen Curry for a long time, so anytime the Warriors are playing, I’m always pulling for Steph to ball out."

Steelers vs. Bengals Highlights

Rodgers’ 68-yard touchdown late in the game was the key play that put the Steelers ahead. The game was a nail-biter until the very end, with fans on both sides witnessing a combination of veteran poise and thrilling athleticism.

Despite the sideline mishap, Rodgers’ focus remained on the game, showcasing why he remains one of the NFL’s most formidable quarterbacks even in the later stages of his career.

Fan Reactions

The incident sparked immediate reactions on social media, with fans divided between amusement at the sideline tackle and admiration for Rodgers’ no-nonsense response. The clip of Rodgers pushing Jones away quickly went viral, highlighting the quarterback’s fiery personality and leadership on and off the field.
