Google to Invest $15 Billion in First AI Hub in Visakhapatnam

Tech giant Google has announced a $15 billion investment over the next five years to establish its first artificial intelligence (AI) hub in Visakhapatnam, India. Once completed, this hub will rank among Google’s largest globally, featuring gigawatt-scale data centers, enhanced energy infrastructure, and an expanded fiber-optic network.

A major highlight of the project includes the development of an international subsea gateway to connect with Google’s vast global cable network, ensuring high-speed connectivity for AI operations and research.

This strategic investment underscores India’s growing significance as a global technology and talent hub. It also aligns with the nation’s vision to accelerate digital transformation and become a developed, tech-forward economy.

Speaking on the project, Google CEO Sundar Pichai highlighted the hub’s potential to drive innovation and economic growth, while Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised the initiative for democratizing technology and enhancing India’s position in global tech leadership.
